Student Groups

Adam Smith Society

The Adam Smith Society is a student-run organization that explores the links between the economy, government and society through debate and discussion. The group invites noted business luminaries to speak on a variety of topics that are of interest to the community. The Society aims to inspire business students to think about their own responsibility in seeing our economic system endure as well as stimulate discussion about how to improve the economy and society. There are multiple chapters of the Adam Smith Society across the United States at other universities and the Society offers a strong network of current and future business leaders to help inspire Tuck students to achieve their potential within the business world. During the academic year our group hosts a speaker series as well as social events.

The Business and Politics Club (BPC)

The Business and Politics Club creates opportunities for students to deepen their understanding of issues at the intersection of business and politics. The club offers dialogues with experts on policy issues ranging from immigration to health care to doing business in Asia, student-led debates on topics such as lobbying or polling, social events around political events, and opportunities for students to interact with public sector leaders.

Tuck Community Consulting

Tuck Community Consulting provides free consulting to local nonprofit organizations, entrepreneurs, and small businesses. Tuck Community Consulting is entirely student managed and staffed, and provides students the opportunity to use their skills and give back to the community. The goal is to improve Tuck outreach in local communities, increase student understanding of nonprofit and small business issues, and broaden awareness of opportunities to volunteer while using business skills. Clients have included organizations in the arts, clean energy, consumer products, environmental issues, health care, housing, microfinance, services for children and women’s needs. Projects are staffed with 3-5 Tuck students, with each student donating an average of 10-20 hours on the project through the fall and winter terms. Watch a video about student projects in 2013-2014, and find out more about TSCS here.

Tuck Volunteers

Tuck Volunteers supports Tuck students in taking time from their academic schedules to do volunteer work in the Upper Valley community. The club plans 3 service workdays a year, and fosters strong partnerships with the local school systems to support educational outreach programs. Everybody Wins organizes reading mentors in the local elementary schools, while Junior Achievement teaches classes on business and economics. Tuck students also organize the annual Run for the Kids, which raises funds for three local children's organizations.
