Bill Ginn, executive vice president of global conservation initiatives at The Nature Conservancy, leads TNC’s work in impact investing, developing markets for natural capital. During his 18-year tenure with the Conservancy, Ginn has held a number of leadership roles in both U.S. and global programs. A thought-leader of the larger conservation community, Ginn is the author of Investing in Nature, a book about roles and opportunities for the private sector in conserving natural resources.

Auden Schendler focuses on big scale solutions to climate change, primarily clean energy and activism. He worked previously in corporate sustainability at Rocky Mountain Institute. Auden has been a trailer insulator, burger flipper, ambulance medic, Outward Bound instructor, high school math and English teacher, and Forest Service goose-nest island builder. He has lectured at Harvard, Yale, Google and Starbucks, and to second graders and Chilean kayakers. Auden is "cantankerous, ill mannered, and malodorous". He may also be right.

On January 20, 2017, Donald J. Trump will be sworn in as the 45th President of the United States of America. Dartmouth, Tuck, and Thayer are hosting a week of topical panels during inauguration week to discuss opportunities and risks under the new Administration. On Friday, January 20, 2017, Energy and Environment Issues will be discussed.
Dean Joe Helble, Thayer School of Engineering, will moderate a faculty panel discussion covering topics ranging from the future of renewables, fossil fuels and nuclear; climate and environmental policy and regulation; the role of government; and how we might anticipate industry changes over the next four years. Refreshments will be provided.

The Congressional budget process is considered by many to be dysfunctional and ineffective, with negotiations structured to guarantee significant confrontations rooted in partisanship and “turf wars.” In order for Congress to fix the problem and produce budgets that are meaningful and effective, fundamental changes in the partisan nature of the negotiations, views towards jurisdiction and responsibility, and the form of the budget itself, are due for a major re-envisioning and re-thinking.

Judd Gregg served as a United States Senator from 1993 to 2011. He was Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Budget Committee and also Chairman and ranking member of the Help, Education, Labor and Pension Committee. He chaired or was the ranking member of the Appropriation’s subcommittees on Foreign Operations; Homeland Security; and Commerce, State and Justice. He was also a member of the Senate Banking Committee.
Prior to his tenure in the Senate, Judd Gregg served as Governor of New Hampshire from 1989 to 1993 and as U.S. Representative from 1981 to 1989. As Governor of New Hampshire he steered the State through one of its most difficult economic times leaving it with a balanced budget and a strong infrastructure which included reorganizing the State’s major utilities and banking system.
